Please follow each action in order (1-7) as each step will help you better understand the next. Be sure to check the Assessment section for quality indicators before beginning the process.
ACTION #1 Many believe your heart is shaped like a valentine. Therefore, your first task is to find 2 colour drawings of a Human Heart - one from the outside and one that shows the inside. This link will help you find some great pictures!

ACTION #3 Complete the following activities to discover what the heart does.

ACTION #4 Complete the 'Heart as a Pump' activity below and answer the following questions:

1. Remove the balloon flap (valve) from the apparatus. What happened?
2. Does the valve affect how well the water flows?
3. Can you think of other examples of valves and pumps?
ACTION #5 Check out the diagram below and color the veins and arteries in the correct color (blue or red). Also try to see if you can label the diagram at the end of the information package.

ACTION #6 Complete the Live Demonstration activity below. You will need a big open area and will need to recruit several other students and friends. You can even turn this into a friendly competition (instructions below). Have fun and be safe!
